Web2.0
is a term that refers to the next-generation Internet experience for
both Webmasters and users. From the Webmaster's perspective,
Web2.0 technologies perform complicated and repetitive tasks such as
modifying and maintaining content and managing incoming data – tasks
that were previously done manually. But it also means enhancing
functionality and
the ability to create an engaging visual and multi-media Web
experience. To the user, Web2.0 means a more interactive and
user-friendly World Wide Web – it means Gmail and Google maps, Flickr
and Del.icio.us, social networking, Wiki, blogging, and a host of other
recent developments, services, and phenomena. Web2.0 is what's
happening on the Web today, an extraordinary transformation in terms of
interactiveness, user-generated content, user-friendly design and functionality,
search capability, data management, dynamic content, social bookmarking,
'findability', 'connectability', and so much
more. We will dive right into the heart of this transformation,
exploring the technologies behind the scenes that are allowing it all
to happen. Over the next ten weeks, you will learn how to set up
and design your own Web
site using Web2.0 CMS (content management system) technologies such as
Joomla, and to keep your Web site content updated quickly and easily.

-
